Penn State Hershey Medical Center Names Dr. Carol Freer CMO

Penn State Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center has named Carol Freer, MD, CMO, according to a hospital news release.

Dr. Freer, who is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases, has served as the hospital's interim CMO since July, when Michael Weitekamp, MD, stepped down to take a one-year fellowship with the Association of American Medical Colleges. She has been with Penn State Hershey since 2008, when she began as associate professor of medicine. In 2009, she became vice chair for clinical affairs in the hospital's department of medicine.

She previously served as vice president for medical affairs at Hanover (Pa.) Hospital for 12 years, before which she held the position of chair of medicine at the hospital for two years.
