Richard Liebowitz, MD, was appointed president of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, effective Feb. 6.
Dr. Liebowitz currently serves as CMO for New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian. He succeeds Mark Mundy, who announced his retirement earlier this year after more than two decades of leadership.
Since joining NewYork-Presbyterian in 2006, Dr. Liebowitz has served as vice president of medical affairs, associate CMO, and most recently, CMO. His responsibilities have included overseeing the institution's service lines, clinical program development, physician recruitment and the NYP Making Care Better initiative.
Prior to joining NewYork-Presbyterian, Dr. Liebowitz was the medical director of strategic initiatives and network business development at Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C. He also served as the section chief of general medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. In addition, he has served as a peer reviewer for a number of prominent medical journals, and on the editorial board of the Archives of Internal Medicine.
