Nebraska Medicine, the Omaha-based health network with more than 800 beds, is shifting several leaders upward or into new roles on its senior team.
Each promotion or executive change is effective immediately, Nebraska Medicine noted in its March 13 news release.
"Extraordinary organizations never stand still," James Linder, MD, CEO said. "Nebraska Medicine will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our patients, to create the best possible work environment for the thousands of extraordinary colleagues here, and to be ready for the future."
Dr. Linder noted that the changes are "budget neutral," not adding new expenses for the system.
Michael Ash, MD, is promoted to health system president and COO after serving as executive vice president – COO and spending 10 years with the system.
Kelly Vaughn will serve as CNO, leading the system's thousands of nurses across its two hospitals, 70 clinics, and support areas.
Sue Nuss, PhD, is taking on a new role of clinical workforce development officer for Nebraska Medicine and assistant vice chancellor at 718-bed University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Nuss, who previously served as CNO, will focus on pipeline development between UNMC and higher education and regional nursing and allied health schools in the new position.
Kyle Skiermont, PharmD, is promoted to senior vice president of operations after most recently serving as vice president of pharmacy and therapeutics for Nebraska Medicine and assistant dean for clinical affairs at UNMC College of Pharmacy.
Julie Lazure is promoted to vice president – nurse executive after most recently serving as vice president of operations.
Tiffany Joekel is promoted to vice president of government affairs, serving as a liaison to the organization's public partners, including lawmakers at local, state and federal levels.
