Carnell Cooper, MD, has been named chief medical officer of MUSC Health Orangeburg (S.C.)
Dr. Carnell has served as CMO at several major healthcare institutions. He joins Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Health from Virginia Reston Hospital Center, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, where he has served as CMO since August 2022.
MUSC Health Orangeburg includes a 286-bed hospital and a network of medical practices. As CMO, Dr. Carnell will lead medical staff and medical affairs across these facilities.
"I am honored to join the team at MUSC Health Orangeburg and am committed to working closely with the physicians and advanced practice providers to address both their concerns and needs," Dr. Carnell said in a news release sent to local news outlets May 12. "My goal is to help our hospital and other facilities grow and improve, ultimately serving the community in the best possible ways."
