MetroHealth appoints chief clinical officer: 3 things to know

Cleveland-based MetroHealth System has appointed Bernard Boulanger, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical officer, effective March 1.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Boulanger.

1. He joins MetroHealth from Lexington-based University of Kentucky HealthCare. There, he served in a number of roles, most recently as system CMO.

2. His other roles at University of Kentucky HealthCare have included trauma and general surgeon, medical director of inpatient services, associate CMO for perioperative services, physician executive for Lexington-based Good Samaritan Hospital and enterprise director for surgery, endoscopy and interventional services.

3. Akram Boutros, MD, president and CEO of MetroHealth, spoke positively of Dr. Boulanger's appointment. "His extensive leadership experience in clinical operations and focus on value-based care closely align with MetroHealth's mission and vision," he said in a news release. "He understands the importance of collaborative decision-making and has the experience and skills that will strengthen the MetroHealth leadership dyad structure. I expect that he will help us accelerate our achievements around the fundamentals of quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness."
