Jon Kurtz, executive director of the Marion County Hospital District in Ocala, Fla., will let his annual contract run out in April and let his district bosses find a replacement, according to a State-Banner report.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Kurtz.
1. He became the district's first executive director in April 2014, after the district leased Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala to Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
2. Since then, Mr. Kurtz said that as the director's role has expanded to include issuing grants to fund local healthcare initiatives and helping create the newly formed Marion County Healthcare Alliance, according to the report. The expanded responsibilities require full-time hours, though the position is currently part-time.
3. Mr. Kurtz said he was pleased to be executive director, but he cannot devote full-time hours to the position as his other businesses demand his time as well, according to the State-Banner.
4. District Chairman Larry Strack plans to form a committee to find a replacement for Mr. Kurtz. He also wants to make the position full-time.
