Jackson Health System taps Dr. Chris Ghaemmaghami as executive vice president, chief clinical officer

Chris Ghaemmaghami, MD, was appointed executive vice president and chief clinical officer at Miami-based Jackson Health System. 

Dr. Ghaemmaghami's background is in emergency medicine, and at Jackson Health he will oversee clinical strategic development, research and grants, quality, safety, risk, regulatory affairs, medical staff services, and graduate medical education. He will also work with UHealth-University of Miami Health System in continuing to develop streamlined care delivery models across both organizations, according to a Jackson Health System news release shared with Becker's Dec. 14. 

He received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry and his medical degree from the University of Miami. He previously worked at the Virginia Department of Health, where he was a leader in the state's COVID-19 vaccination and therapeutics programs. Prior to working in public health, he was a faculty member at the Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System and held several leadership positions, including chief medical officer at UVA Health and interim chief executive officer at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
