Michele Schoonover will retire June 7 as CEO of Vinton, Iowa-based Virginia Gay Hospitals and Clinics, according to an article published on communitynewspapergroup.com.
Ms. Schoonover is a 44-year veteran of the hospital, according to the article. Her LinkedIn page shows she has helmed the hospital since 2019. Before that, she worked as director of general services. She also previously worked in purchasing and, at the beginning of her career there, as a radiology technologist, according to the article.
"I've been blessed to have the opportunity to advance my career right here at VGH, and in this community," she said in the article. "When the kids were little, it was nice to be close by so I was able to get to their activities. And getting to know everyone in town. I've been very blessed."
Virginia Gay Hospital is a privately operated, nonprofit rural hospital serving families in the greater Vinton County, Iowa, area.
