Melinda Estes, MD, has alerted Fletcher Allen Health Care's Board of Trustees that she may be stepping down as president, according to a Vermont Digger news report.
Although the health system has not yet confirmed Dr. Estes will leave, a hospital spokesperson did confirm that she was exploring an opportunity to take a top executive role at a Midwestern health system, according to the news report. Dr. Estes has served as the leader of FAHC since 2003 after former CEO William Boettcher was convicted and sentenced to federal prison for fraud.
