Lanham, Md.-based Doctors Community Hospital has named Sunil Madan, MD, CMO and chief population health officer.
Here are five things to know about Dr. Madan.
1. In his new role, he will primarily work with other hospital leaders to guide clinical strategies and physician engagement efforts as well as quality and safety delivery initiatives.
2. He replaced Gabriel Jaffe, MD, who was the hospital's first CMO and recently resigned from that post. Dr. Jaffe plans to continue practicing internal medicine at Metropolitan Medical Specialists in Lanham.
3. Prior to Doctors Community Hospital, Dr. Madan served for six years as the medical director and five years as the associate medical director in Washington, D.C.-based MedStar Washington Hospital Center's emergency department.
4. Dr. Madan earned his bachelor's degrees in biology and chemistry as well as his medical doctorate at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Afterward, he completed his residency in emergency medicine at Atlanta-based Emory University— serving as its chief resident.
5. In addition to having earned a certificate in medical management from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, he is board certified in emergency medicine and a certified physician executive. He also is a teaching faculty member and assistant professor in the emergency medicine residency programs at both Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
