Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, has appointed Joe Wanner CEO, effective Sept. 29.
Mr. Wanner, who currently serves as the CFO of the hospital, was one of three candidates who completed final interviews for the CEO role earlier this month. The process included a final interview, an assessment exercise, and meetings with hospital staff, city officials, and the public.
Mr. Wanner has served as CFO of Bartlett Regional since November. His previous experience includes serving as the CFO/COO at Wallowa County Health Care District in Enterprise, Ore. He also previously worked at Bartlett Regional in 2011 as the controller and then the CFO.
"The board set out to find a leader with strong financial acumen, commitment to the community, and an ability to build stakeholder relations," Kenny Solomon-Gross, board president, said in a Sept. 11 news release. "It's always rewarding to promote from within the organization and we believe Mr. Wanner is the right person to lead us forward."
Ian Worden was selected as interim CEO of the hospital in September 2023 and has been serving in that role since October 2023. He will continue to provide support to the board and Mr. Wanner through a transition period.
The recruitment process for a new CFO will begin in the coming weeks.
