President Glenn Waters: Creating Expansion at Morton Plant Mease Health Care

Glenn Waters has served as president of Morton Plant Mease Health Care, a four-hospital system based in Clearwater, Fla., since 2008.

Prior to joining Morton Plant Mease Health Care, Mr. Waters served as COO of Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, N.C. During his time there, Mr. Waters developed an outpatient cardiac catherization joint venture with cardiologists and planned a $275 million expansion of the system's flagship hospital, among other accomplishments.

Mr. Waters has also led expansion at Morton Plant Mease Health Care. Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla., is currently undergoing an expansion that will last through 2016. Mease Dunedin (Fla.) Hospital has been upgrading every patient room and making 70 percent of the rooms private over the last five years. The hospital also expanded its surgical center in 2012. Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla., opened a wound care center in 2012.

Under Mr. Waters' leadership, some of the system's hospitals have received national recognition. Mease Countryside and Morton Plant Hospitals were both named on Thomson Reuters' 100 Top Hospitals list in 2012. "This recognition is a reflection of the commitment and hard work by our teams of physicians, nurses and volunteers at our hospitals to provide quality care to our patients," Mr. Waters said in a statement.

Mr. Waters earned a master's degree in hospital administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where he graduated magna cum laude.
