This past September, Omaha, Neb.-based Alegent Health and Creighton University officially became Alegent Creighton Health, and CFO Scott Wooten oversees the financial direction of the entire 10-hospital system.
Alegent Creighton Health is the largest non-profit, faith-based health system in the Omaha region and is the largest private employer, with more than 1,300 physicians and 8,600 employees. Before Alegent Health absorbed Creighton from Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, Mr. Wooten managed more than $514 million in total revenue. The acquisition has boosted both Alegent's and Creighton's financial profiles, as Moody's Investors Service said the organizations' missions are closely aligned.
"Reduction in exposure to poorly performing healthcare operations through sale of the majority of university's faculty practice plan and partial ownership interest in the Creighton University Medical Center to Alegent Health, whose mission is much more closely aligned to Creighton's than the former majority owner," is a major strength, according to Moody's report.
Before Mr. Wooten joined Alegent Health in 2005, he worked in various executive financial roles at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and Florida Hospital Orlando.
