Robert Braithwaite has served as president and CEO of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif., since March 2013.
Mr. Braithwaite has 18 years of senior management leadership experience. He has been with Hoag 1992, when he joined as an administrative resident. Mr. Braithwaite most recently served as COO of the nonprofit healthcare delivery network.
During his time with Hoag, Mr. Braithwaite has helped the system make strides into the future. For example, he led the development, building, staffing and licensing of Hoag Hospital Irvine and Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
Now as CEO, one of Mr. Braithwaite's first priorities is expanding Hoag's reach into the community. "As healthcare professionals, we need to take our services deep into the community where they are needed most and where, far too often, they are beyond the reach of many of Orange County's underserved residents," he said in a news release. He plans to expand services through urgent care center expansion, according to the release.
During his time in California, Mr. Braithwaite has supported several local community organizations. For instance, he has served as a board member of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce and the Irvine Public School Foundation. He has also supported SOS Clinic, the South County Chamber of Commerce and many youth sports organizations.
Mr. Braithwaite earned a master's degree in health services administration from Arizona State University in Tempe. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
