Barry Arbuckle, PhD, serves as president and CEO of MemorialCare Health System, a six-hospital Southern California integrated delivery system headquartered in Fountain Valley, Calif., with more than 200 locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
Under Dr. Arbuckle's leadership, MemorialCare Health System has grown and continued to innovate. For two decades, MemorialCare has brought together physicians and clinicians to research and identify the best clinical outcomes in dozens of disease categories which are standards of practice throughout the health system. To further its integration initiatives and strengthen its population health management efforts, the system launched MemorialCare Medical Foundation, California’s fastest growing physician organization with both employed and IPA divisions that include a number of Southern California’s most prominent physician groups, like Greater Newport Physicians, in early 2011. "It is a new era — an era of provider integration and more mature infrastructure and systems," he told Becker's Hospital Review in April 2012. "To accomplish [population health management], we need a strong provider network covering a sizable geography."
MemorialCare Health System has received many accolades with Dr. Arbuckle at the helm. He has led the system to earn consecutive Gallup Great Workplace awards and to be listed as one of the Best Governed Hospital Systems in the U.S. by The Governance Institute, among other honors.
Dr. Arbuckle is not just a leader at MemorialCare — he leads in the healthcare community as well. He is a past chair of the California Hospital Association and speaks nationally and internationally on topics including the U.S. healthcare system, solutions to healthcare delivery challenges and building a successful integrated healthcare delivery system. He also is active on many boards, including chairing March of Dimes-California and has held board leadership posts at Integrated Healthcare Association and VHA West.
Dr. Arbuckle will be a speaker at the Becker's Hospital Review 4th Annual Meeting, May 9-11, in Chicago. For more information on the event, or to register, please click here.
