Daryl Tol has served as president and CEO of Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler Market since 2010 and took on an additional role of president and CEO of Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach in 2012. The Florida Hospital facilities are part of the Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System.
Under Mr. Tol's leadership, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center has been recognized many times for excellence. In 2012 alone, the hospital received an "A" rating from The Leapfrog Group, was listed as the safest hospital in Florida by Consumer Reports and won the Governor's Sterling Award, which is similar to the national Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award.
While leading his facilities to success last year, Mr. Tol has also been keeping an eye on the changing healthcare landscape under reform to ensure their success in the future. "I believe we will see a growing interdependence among healthcare providers like hospitals, physicians, health plans, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation providers and others," he wrote in a letter posted on Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center's website. "We believe this interdependence will express itself in a growing role for physicians in leadership of healthcare organizations and service lines…and stronger engagement with our community around prevention," among other changes. According to the letter, Mr. Tol plans to develop insurance products and corporate health initiatives this year in light of the growing interdependence in healthcare.
Outside of his commitments at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center and the hospitals in the Volusia/Flagler market, Mr. Tol is involved in several community organizations, including the Duvall Home, Team Volusia and the Daytona Regional Chamber, just to name a few.
Mr. Tol earned a master's degree in health administration from Loma Linda (Calif.) University.
