Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is the wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of $221.4 billion, according to Forbes' "Top 10 Richest People In The World (July 2024)" list published July 1.
Like many of the people on this list, Mr. Musk has raised and donated large sums of money for healthcare and technological advancements. Most recently, his artificial intelligence company xAI raised $6 billion to help it focus on developing advanced AI systems that are "truthful, competent and maximally beneficial for all humanity."
Warren Buffett, chairperson of Berkshire Hathaway, was knocked down three spots to number 10 after a dip in his stock value and a donation of around $5.3 billion.
The 10 wealthiest people in the world are worth a total of $1.66 trillion, around $76 million more than one month ago, the report found.
Forbes has tracked the world's billionaires since 1987 and found 2,781 for its annual list in April.
