Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, Wis., and Cincinnati-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare have separately developed apps for patients to access health information via their iPhones or iPads, according to news releases from Gundersen Lutheran and St. Elizabeth.
The Gundersen Lutheran app is available to patients who are part of the MyCare program, which has offered patients access to their personal health information online since 2005.
Now, these patients can use their iPhone or iPad to view information such as lab test results; preventive care procedures and their due dates; medications, allergies, immunizations and current health issues; and some after-visit summary information for past appointments. Patients can also use the app to create and reply to messages from a healthcare provider and view, confirm or cancel upcoming appointments.
In contrast, St. Elizabeth Healthcare's application is available to all consumers, who can use the app to find locations of hospitals, emergency department and clinics; find physicians associated with St. Elizabeth Healthcare or St. Elizabeth Physicians, the system's multispecialty physician organization; receive real-time information on events offered through the system; view health system-related news; and watch St. Elizabeth commercials and virtual tours.
The St. Elizabeth app also includes HealthTrak, a wellness tool to help consumers make healthy decisions; a food diary with nutritional information and space to document personal nutritional intake; and a body mass index calculator.
