White Paper: EHRs May Present New Medical Liability Issues

Electronic health records may create new forms of medical liability issues, according to an AC Group white paper.

AC Group wrote that while the overall medical liability for EHRs compared to paper-based records has not been determined, EHRs do present new issues and expose existing liability issues in the healthcare environment.

A review of 65 EHRs revealed that more than 90 percent did not provide sufficient medico-legal training and 95 percent had specific medico-legal issues, according to the white paper.
