Western New York's information exchange, HEALTHeLINK, will participate in the Department of Veterans Affairs' Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record Health Communities Program, according to a news release.
The pilot project, scheduled to begin this fall, is designed to improve the delivery of care and services to veterans through health information technology. HEALTHeLINK will work with the Nationwide Health Information Network through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to aid the electronic exchange of health information.
In May HEALTHeLINK received a $16 million Beacon Community Award from HHS to use health IT to fight diabetes.
