U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced $14 million in funding for 52 distance learning and telemedicine projects to increase access to healthcare and enhance educational opportunities in 29 states.
The projects include 19 distance learning projects, 32 telemedicine project and one combined project. Forty-five percent of the funding will go to counties where the minority population is greater than 30 percent, and another 18 percent of the funding will benefit areas were the Native American population exceeds 30 percent, according to the report.
