University Hospital in Cincinnati, owned by Ohio-based UC Health, has begun to install a system wide telemedicine network with Indiana hospitals, according to a Cincinnati Ohio News report.
Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Ind., and hospitals in Clinton, Ind. and Butler, Ind., will be a part of the telemedicine network. The program is funded by a $75,000 grant from the state of Ohio.
At University Hospital, the entire telemedicine system will cost less than $1 million. Federal regulators already have approved the Web-based system, but UH physicians will have to get Indiana medical licenses to consult with patients at Dearborn County.
