As of April, a total of $14.6 billion has been paid by CMS as part of the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health record incentive programs since its inception in 2011, according to a monthly update released by CMS.
A total of 295,205 eligible professionals and hospitals have been paid since 2011, with 1,877 of them having been paid this year so far.
April 2013 saw 4,483 active registrations, which brings the total number of eligible providers actively registered in the program to 394,840.
