According to the report, a risk manager should:
- Be involved from the start on any HIT project.
- Adopt an enterprise-wide perspective.
- Get to know the IT department.
- Tout problem-solving skills.
- Pay attention to known high-risk areas.
- Be the documentation champion.
- Ensure monitoring of the electronic health record system rollout and use.
- Recognize HIT's double-edged sword.
- Design a process to capture HIT events.
- Use HIT systems for quality and safety improvement.
