Study: Access to PHRs Has Little Impact on Positive Patient Outcomes

Providing patients with personal health records has little impact on their biological outcomes, satisfaction with care or use of health services, according to a study in the Journal of American Medical Information Association.

Researchers studied the impact of PHRs in 453 patients with hypertension.

There were no observable positive correlations with patient outcomes however; younger age, self-reported computer skills and positive provider communication ratings were associated with higher PHR use.
