Sonoma (Calif.) Valley Hospital has announced a data breach affecting 1,350 surgery patients, according to a Sonoma Valley Sun report.
According to the hospital, the breach occurred in February when an employee accidentally uploaded the patients' personal information to the hospital website as part of a routine website update. The error was discovered in April, after which it was removed.
The information posted to the website included patient names, dates of service, procedures, hospital charges and names of insurance companies. It did not include Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's licenses or addresses.
The affected patients have been notified, according to the report.
