The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is planning a series of pilots to test its metadata recommendations outlined in its advance notice of proposed metadata standards, according to a Health IT Buzz report.
Two pilots, the Query Health initiative and Data Segmentation initiative, will begin this fall. The Query Health initiative is designed to define and deliver the standards and services for distributed population health queries from electronic health records. The Data Segmentation initiative aims to address privacy issues noted in the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology report in Dec. 2001.
