The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT will be establishing a community for developers of health IT where individuals can share ideas and collectively create solutions to challenges over meaningful use of electronic health records, according to a Government Health IT news report.
Before the community for health IT innovations is created, the ONC will hire a vendor to create an infrastructure that will allow for the development of health IT tools. The chosen vendor will help the ONC form and launch innovation competitions, carry out the competition process and build interest to attract participants.
Through this infrastructure, the ONC will host competitions for IT solutions in areas including health information exchanges, decision support, system usability and safety and analytical tool development, according to the report.
