The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT will develop a dashboard that can track the progress of regional health IT extension centers and allow providers to view lessons learned on meaningful use of electronic health records, according to a Government Health IT news report.
RECs were created under the HITECH portion of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to provide technical assistance and support to healthcare providers switching from paper-based medical practice to EHRs. Part of the RECs' mission is to relay best practices to healthcare providers.
Mat Kendall, director of the ONC's Office of Provider Adoption and Support, says a "static" version of the progress could be available by the end of January.
