Movers and shakers: 8 latest leadership changes affecting health IT

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following health IT executive moves recently affecting hospitals, companies and federal agencies:

1. Athenahealth, a Watertown, Mass.-based health IT software company, appointed Bill Conway as its new chief sales officer to lead the company's strategic execution efforts and improve customers' clinical outcomes.

2. Livongo Health, a digital health startup aimed at supporting people with chronic conditions, has appointed Boston Children's CEO Sandra Fenwick to its board of directors.

3. Geeta Nayyar, MD, a former chief medical information officer of AT&T, was named CMO of Greenway Health, an EHR and revenue cycle management vendor.

4. Witt Wisebram, a uBiome co-founder, and Joseph DeRisi, PhD, a University of California San Francisco professor, are two of the three independent board members, assigned to a special committee to conduct an internal investigation of genomics startup uBiome who have resigned from the board. Kimmy Scotti, partner at venture firm 8VC, is now the only member of the special committee, as well as the board's only remaining independent director.

5. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston has selected David Jaffray, PhD, to serve as its inaugural chief technology and digital officer.

6. Orlando (Fla.) Health selected a 12-member team to lead its transition to a new Epic EHR. The team comprises the following members: Sherry Buxton, BSN, RN, Mike Braden, Cherley Constant, John Dimino, Ashley Elder, William Millican, Michael Sasser, Lauri Thompson, Rhonda Walmer, Bridget Walters, Jerry Warner and Kim Weaver.

7. Neuroscientist and psychiatrist Tom Insel, MD, former mental health team leader at Verily, is California's new "mental health czar" who will advise the governor on mental health issues.

8. HHS chose Jose Arrieta to lead IT efforts as CIO.
