Surgeons at Methodist Dallas Medical Center allowed an unlimited number of people to watch them perform brain surgery by livestreaming the procedure, according to ABC News.
The patient underwent awake brain surgery Oct. 29 to remove a mass of blood vessels that were affecting her speech and caused seizures.
To educate and inspire others, the patient agreed to allow the hospital to livestream the surgery on its Facebook page. During the 50-minute procedure, more than 63,000 people viewed the livestream and left comments and reactions.
Methodist Dallas Medical Center surgeons walked viewers through the process and answered viewser' questions in real-time. Following the procedure, the hospital shared an image of the patient smiling and recovering in her hospital bed.
