McKenzie County Memorial Hospital in Watford City, N.D., recently qualified as a meaningful user of a certified electronic health record system through the CMS EHR Incentive Program, becoming the first hospital in North Dakota to receive the incentive payment, according to a hospital news release.
"We are thrilled to be the first hospital in the state to reach this major milestone in a nationwide effort to modernize healthcare information technology, make the system more efficient and control healthcare costs," said Dan Kelly, CEO of parent organization McKenzie County Healthcare Systems.
The hospital did not say how much the payments would be, although hospitals could qualify for up to $2 million or more through the program depending on the costs of the EHR implementation.
