Indiana University Health Arnett in Lafayette announced that an employee's laptop containing patient information was stolen from the employee's car April 9.
The laptop was password-protected but unencrypted. Emails stored on the laptop may have contained patient names, dates of birth, physicians' names, medical record numbers, diagnoses and dates of service. It did not, however, contain Social Security numbers, financial information or patients' medical records.
IU Health Arnett has no reason to believe that the information was misused or improperly accessed. It has begun mailing affected patients.
