As health systems continue their artificial intelligence push, more Americans are feeling comfortable with the role the technology will play in their healthcare.

An Aug. 21 survey of 1,006 people conducted by the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus found that 75% of individuals believe that using AI to reduce human errors is crucial.

Additionally the survey found that:

  • Seventy-one percent of people want AI to be used to shorten wait times.

  • Seventy percent feel comfortable with AI handling note-taking during appointments.

  • Sixty-six percent believe that AI should help improve the work-life balance of healthcare providers.

  • While most Americans recognize the benefits of AI in healthcare, the survey revealed that 56% still find it somewhat intimidating, and 70% are concerned about data privacy.
