HealthStream revealed the effects of its HeartCode in a recent blog post.
The blog focuses on Saint Peter’s Hospital and their use of HeartCode in order to improve patient satisfaction and save money.
The hospital eliminated instructor-led CPR classes and replaced with HeartCode BLS and HeartCode ACLS programs that were developed by the American Heart Association.
HeartCode is comprised of 3 steps:
1. Compete the cognitive online patient cases
2. Practice Skills
3. Compete a Skills Check with a Voice-Assisted Mannequin or AHA instructor.
Upon completion, employees receive an official AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers card.
By implementing HeartCode, Saint Peter’s Hospital was able to improve employee satisfaction, maintain standardization and save costs. The program was also a revenue generator for the hospital.
