Cerner, McKesson, Allscripts, athenahealth, Greenway Medical Technologies and RelayHealth have announced the launch of the CommonWell Health Alliance, an independent non-profit organization that will support universal access to healthcare data through interoperability.
The alliance will define, promote and certify national infrastructure with common platforms and policies. It will also ensure that health information technology products displaying the Alliance seal are certified to work on the national infrastructure.
Early components of the alliance's national infrastructure will include the following services:
• Cross-entity patient linking and matching services
• Patient consent and data access management
• Patient record locator and directed query services
