Approximately 700 engineers began moving into Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner's new Innovations Campus on Feb. 6, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
Construction on the $4.5 billion campus contains a number of phases, the first two of which are now complete. These original phases included construction of two buildings, which will eventually be home to a total of 3,000 employees. Although only 700 workers have settled in, the remaining 2,300 employees will move in over the coming six weeks.
"We're busting at the seams, and this provides us a little relief temporarily," said Cerner COO Mike Nill.
Cerner expects the final phase of its campus construction will be complete in 2025. The Innovations Campus will eventually house 16,000 Cerner employees.
