Federal Government Authorizes Nevada's $6.1M HIE Plan

The federal government approved Nevada's $6.1 million plan to connect the state's hospital computer systems in a health information exchange, according to a Las Vegas Sun report.

Funds for the project come from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and according to the report, state officials said the HIE will create more than 5,000 jobs. Patients must give permission to have their electronic medical records included in the HIE.
