San Francisco-based Dignity Health is notifying patients of a data breach at one of their hospitals after discovering transcribed physician notes were publicly accessible on a third party website.
The third party has since removed the link from their website.
Patients at the Mercy Medical Center Redding (Calif.) Oncology Clinic were notified beginning Dec. 18.
The compromised patient information included patient names, birth dates, age, date of service, diagnosis, medication, current therapy and treatment plan. No Social Security numbers or financial information were breached.
According to the patient notification letter, the hospital does not believe the information has been used for any "unlawful purpose."
