California Governor Jerry Brown has signed a bill to expand telehealth services, particularly for patients in rural and underserved areas in the state, according to a news release.
The Telehealth Advancement Act of 2011, which was introduced by Assembly Member Dan Logue (R-Chico) and sponsored by the California State Rural Health Association, will provide a broader range of telehealth services; include all licensed healthcare professionals as telehealth providers; increase telehealth care settings; and facilitate hospitals' establishment of medical credentials for telehealth providers.
CSRHA worked with the Center for Connected Health Policy, the California Telemedicine and eHealth Center, the California Telehealth Network and other stakeholders to make recommendations for the bill.
