Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida has unveiled a new digital health platform providing virtual visits. The health system partnered with telehealth company American Well to provide the telehealth services.
Through the new app, patients seeking non-emergency medical care can undergo a video-based clinical consultation. Providers will review patient's clinical information, speak with the patient using video, prescribe medications if needed and suggest follow-up care.
The platform is available 24/7.
"We have always had a keen interest in healthcare innovation," said Brian Keeley, president and CEO of the health system, in a statement. "This new platform is one more way for people to access care — and in an affordable and convenient way."
