Amazon, Slack enter into strategic partnership for workplace tech: 4 details

Amazon Web Services and Slack Technologies signed a multiyear strategic partnership to develop and distribute technology for workplace communication and technology.

Four things to know:

1. The partnership will make it easier for Slack users to manage AWS resources from inside Slack. Slack will migrate its call capability for all voice and video calling to Amazon Chime, the cloud provider's communications service.

2. AWS will support Slack enterprise customers' rapid platform adoption and offer data residency options; users can now choose which region or country their data is stored in.

3. Slack will use AWS for storage, compute, database, security, analytics and machine learning for new collaboration features. AWS will use Slack for its internal communications going forward.

4. The partners also aim to deepen interoperability so teams can manage AWS resources in Slack channels. One example is Amazon AppFlow integrating with Slack so that users can securely transfer data and analyze trends in customer engagement from health desk requests or measure sentiment data.
