A nurse at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center has been charged with stealing patient information and using the information to steal the patients' identities, according to a Times Union report.

The nurse allegedly stole the affected patients' Social Security numbers and other personal information and then used the data to open credit card accounts and to print fake bank checks. According to the charges against her, the nurse had been stealing patient information for at least one year and maybe as long as four years, according to the report.

Law enforcement arrested the nurse at the hospital May 7, and seized laptops used by the nurse as well as the equipment she allegedly used to print the fake checks, according to the report.
