The American Hospital Association is urging CMS and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology to fully implement meaningful use and the new payment and delivery models already underway rather than engage in additional regulation, according to an AHA News Now report.
The letter was sent April 19 in response to the ONC and CMS' public request for information on a wide range of possible new regulatory mechanisms.
Ashley Thompson, AHA's vice president and deputy director of policy, said additional regulatory requirements are not necessary to advance interoperability and the electronic exchange of health information, according to the report.
