This week, hundreds of vendors and software developers will meet in Chicago to address interoperability issues between health IT platforms, giving participants the chance to test connections in person and address any glitches.
Here are five things to know about this week's Connectathon:
- The Connectathon will be held Jan. 27 to Jan. 31 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.
- The event is organized by the nonprofit Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise, an organization focused on health IT adoption and achieving national interoperability.
- Approximately 140 health IT systems will be tested at this year's event.
- Testing will be overseen by IHE's technical managers and a team of 70 trained monitors.
- At this year's Connectathon, vendors will also be able to test their systems against emerging industry standards, such as HIMSS Health Story Project and ONC S&I Framework Health eDecisions, as well as evaluate their meaningful use stage 2 readiness.
