According to a KPMG poll, hospital and health system leaders are challenged in meeting standards on privacy and security of patient information under meaningful use stage 2 and HIPAA.
The poll was held through a webcast by KPMG's Healthcare & Life Sciences Institute. The results reflect responses from more than 140 hospital and health system administrations.
Approximately 47 percent of survey respondents said they were only somewhat comfortable with their organization's ability with all parts of HIPAA. This includes the annual risk assessments and protecting patient identifiable information, according to the release.
Thirty-one percent of respondents said they are comfortable with the requirements, about 8 percent said they were not comfortable and 13 percent said they were unsure.
