4 Most Important Skills to Achieve Healthcare Provider IT Priorities

In general, clinical informatics is the most important skill for achieving healthcare provider IT priorities, according to "Solving the Talent Equation for Health IT," a report by PwC's Health Research Institute.

The report is based on an in-depth survey of human capital and talent strategies that the institute conducted in late 2012 as well as interviews with 20 IT and human resource professionals.

The 4 most important skills to achieve provider IT priorities, according to the survey are:

•    Clinical informatics — 37 percent of respondents believe this to be the most important skill
•    Systems and data integration — 28 percent of respondents believe this to be the most important skill
•    Technology and architecture support — 10 percent of respondents believe this to be the most important skill
•    Data statistics and analytics — 9 percent of respondents believe this to be the most important skill
