A survey conducted by Embarcadero Technologies in San Francisco showed EHR implementations are the top priority for healthcare IT professionals, according to a news release by Embarcadero.
The survey showed that 85 percent of healthcare IT professionals are in the midst of an EHR implementation or plan to start one within the next 18 months.
Seventy-four percent of respondents also said the existing information on meaningful use and certification was adequate, and two thirds agreed that their staff was ready to implement a system that would comply with meaningful use. IT professionals said EHR implementation was their top priority, followed by healthcare data warehouses and health information exchanges.
EHR providers Epic (13.2 percent), Cerner (11.3 percent) and Siemens (7.5 percent) were cited most frequently as the systems hospitals planned to install.
