CMS is giving the Oregon State Hospital until May 15 to submit a corrective action plan or lose its Medicare reimbursement.
CMS requested the plan in a May 5 letter after state regulators found supervision and reporting deficiencies at the hospital's Junction City campus, according to ABC affiliate KDRV. Issues ranged from a lack of a permanent on-site administrator to incidents where staff lost visual contact with patients while on outings.
The Oregon State Hospital provides psychiatric services for adults needing hospital-level mental health treatment at a main campus in Salem, in addition to the secondary campus in Junction City, according to KDRV.
The Junction City hospital's Medicare reimbursement could be terminated on Aug. 3 if deficiencies are not corrected, according to CMS.
