Norman (Okla.) Regional Health System is closing its flagship Norman Regional Hospital and emergency department and relocating services to another location on July 28.
The existing hospital on Porter Ave. will change its name to Porter Health Village. The new hospital, currently known as Norman Regional HealthPlex will change its name to Norman Regional Hospital, according to a July 18 news release.
"This change will allow Norman Regional to provide leading-edge healthcare in a state-of-the-art building," the release said.
The Porter emergency department will close the morning of July 28. Following the ED closure, patients will have access to ED services at the new Normal Regional Hospital location, Norman Regional Moore and Norman Regional Nine in Norman.
Some services being transferred from the existing hospital to the new location include inpatient care units like surgical services and the intensive care unit.
Porter Health Village will feature Norman Regional's first urgent care on July 29, along with an educational center that is being remodeled and will open this fall. Additional services offered at this location include health information management, oncology care management, medical oncology, positron emission tomography and computed tomography, the release said.
